Hi, I’m Kathie!

As a child, nothing was more exciting than a trip to the fabric store! I loved studying the pattern books and spending hours looking at (and touching) the fabrics. I stayed busy doing many things that involved textiles: sewing, embroidery, knitting, and crocheting. Working for a family-owned fabric store chain in Austin, Texas while in graduate school fed my soul, although my take-home pay suffered after each trip the company’s buyer made to market!

While spending the summer of 1999 in Santa Fe, New Mexico, singing in the Santa Fe Desert Chorale, I had the opportunity to learn to weave at the Santa Fe School of Weaving. I was hooked immediately! After receiving a job promotion in 2000, I applied the raise I received to the purchase of a 36″ Schacht 8-shaft Mighty Wolf loom. At last, I could create fabric on my own!

My earliest projects included yardage for clothing. Before long, I added a 15 3/4″ 8-shaft Leclerc Voyageur table loom to my loom collection. I wove off and on in whatever free time my fairly all-consuming day job allowed, but by early 2004, my burgeoning career gave me no time to weave. My beautiful Mighty Wolf became a coat and hat rack, while and my Voyageur slept peacefully in its bag in a closet.

Eighteen years later, I decided to start weaving again, before I COMPLETELY forgot how to get things set up and going. I seriously dedicated myself to weaving in 2024 and began selling my wares at craft markets and festivals later that year. I love creating beautiful textiles that others appreciate and find useful! In addition to the joy of creation, it is wonderful to meet people from all walks of life at festivals, answer their questions, and share a little bit about the craft of weaving with them.
